The Brilliance of the Sun
The Sun, that heavenly body that makes up over 95% of the Milky Way solar system supports life on planet Earth as well. Besides throwing out statistics about the intensity of the sun’s surface we will talk about something else about the Sun. The Sun is actually a gaseous star in which not that much is known about this fireball of radiant life-giving energy. While most certainly we can take pictures of the surface of the Sun and see the magnificent thermal dances of sunspots and the never ending eruptions of volcano like fireballs sprouting from the surface of this heavenly body we will never know in our lifetime what it’s really like on the surface of the Sun.
Hot Hot Hot
That may sound a bit science-fiction like and why would anyone want to know what it’s like on the surface of the Sun as we know getting a mere 5,000,000 miles away from the Sun would end with instant evaporation! In the future we may discover the key to surviving the most intense and harsh environments even the scorching heat of the Sun’s surface, but for now we will have to be happy with a distant viewing, very distant. While this cannot be comprehended by even the most brilliant of researchers and scientists at NASA in this day possibly the future will see us inching our way closer to the Sun without being turned into a pile of ash and then gas and then nothing from the intense heat.
Fire-Proof Suits No Avail
While this is interesting to think and dream about the rationality of a human being, regardless of the safety devices and the personal protective equipment (PPE) that is being adorned getting anywhere near the surface of the Sun is light years away at best. We have only have scratched the surface on our own planet Earth with fire-proof suits that allow a man to walk through 5000° heat environments with relative ease and safety. The Sun is a different story altogether since the overall concentration of radiant heat that emits from this all-powerful ball of liquefied gas and pure energy is beyond our rationale and are minds to comprehend.
Sun is All Giving Warmth
We do know some interesting facts about the Sun such as it is the only source of light that affects planet Earth other than the lunar moon phases that occur on a nightly rotation. While there certainly are stars that exist even in the Milky Way that give off enough light and heat to radiate warmth to a certain degree, in no way has there ever been a star matching or even coming close to matching the overall size and intensity of our own Sun. This does not mean that there are not other Sun-like heavenly bodies passing through the universe this is only to say we have not seen them, yet. What is reassuring to know about the Sun is that it’s far enough away where humankind cannot affect its stupendous and life-giving warmth. Although if we could?
